I want to extend my sincere thanks to Shemaiah Reed and the team at I Am Refocused Radio for the opportunity to have such an open and meaningful conversation about my new book, Failure to Treat: How a Broken Healthcare System Puts Patients and Practitioners at Risk.
Our discussion reminded me why I wrote this book in the first place. After more than five decades in medicine, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside extraordinary physicians, including my mentor, Dr. Bernard Lown, a Nobel Peace Prize laureate whose example taught me that medicine is, at its core, a moral and humanistic pursuit. Yet, what I’ve witnessed over the years is a steady erosion of those values.
