I want to thank Elizabeth Garone and Health Progress for the insightful and beautifully written article, “Accessible, Affordable, Beneficial: How Can U.S. Health Care Be Reshaped to Better Serve Patients?”

It’s an honor to be part of this important conversation about how we can make our healthcare system more humane, effective, and sustainable - not just for patients, but for the physicians and providers who dedicate their lives to caring for them. Elizabeth captured the realities that so many of us in medicine experience every day: the pressure to do more with less, the erosion of time with our patients, and the urgent need for systemic reform.

These are some of the same themes I explore in my new book, Failure to Treat, which calls for a collective effort to rebuild healthcare around compassion, clarity, and common sense.

I’m deeply grateful to Health Progress for shining a light on these issues and for giving me the opportunity to share my perspective.
